The Santa Bárbara de Samaná Fire Department was founded on March 11, 1911, by citizens who organized to protect the lives and property of the community. Its work was especially important for the traditional wooden and zinc buildings that characterized the city.
Over the decades, the institution has evolved to meet the needs of a growing province and an increasingly dynamic tourist area, while remaining a pillar of local civil protection.
